Anousta Products have been manufacturing a range of Organic Skincare products for over fifteen years. Each product is hand made at our factory in Wimborne, Dorset where we have a very popular shop where Linda is usually on call to offer advice. Please come and vist.

Anosuta shopMany people do not take good enough care of their skin. As we get older, it is even more important to look after yourself. In addition, consumers are uncertain about the quality of many creams and lotions, thus they are turning to organic skin care products. Maintaining healthy skin using organic skin care products is very effective providing you use creams and lotions with the right ingredients because not all natural products are effective.

The term organic refers to anything that is grown from nature. The plants used for the ingredients do not contain any fertilizers, pesticides or chemicals of any kind. Many people are trying to lead a greener lifestyle; this includes eating healthier foods, recycling more and using more environmentally friendly energy sources and much more. This also includes using safer products for their skin. Most dermatologists agree that organic skin care products are much safer and more effective than chemical based products.

Anousta shopHowever, since there are so many natural ingredients used, which ones are the most effective. Phytessence Wakame is an extract from a specific type of Japanese sea kelp. The Japanese people have used this substance for hundreds of years as it is effective at restoring a healthy look and feel to your body. Phytessence Wakame helps to inhibit a harmful enzyme from breaking down the hyaluronic acid in your skin. This allows the hyaluronic acid to return to a normal level in your skin. The loss of this specific acid is a contributor to lines and wrinkles forming.

Other very effective natural ingredients used in the best organic skin care products include Active Manuka honey and essential oils such as Jojoba oil, Avocado oil and Grapeseed oil. Active Manuka honey comes from the honey produced by bees from the pollen of the Manuka bush in New Zealand. It is a very effective natural ingredient used to help reduce lines and wrinkles. Organic skin care products are much safer and more effective than products found at your local department store. If you would like more information on the most effective natural ingredients used, please take a minute and visit my website today.

Why Use a Handcream

We buy hand cream or hand lotion to moisturize and soften the skin. Most people using mass produced commercial hand care products will say that their hands are not as soft or conditioned as they might like….. no matter how many applications of hand cream or hand lotion that they use!

Mass produced handcreams generally are produced using petroleum based ingredients such as Petroleum, Petrolatum, Mineral Oil. Liquid Paraffin, etc.
This might be good for cars, industrial work places and machinery but they are certainly not helpful in the skincare department!

handcreamHandcream with all natural ingredients is the best for you.
Why?….because it works and you want the handcream that you buy to actually work for you day in day out.

How will that happen if you put petroleum base products on your skin. These tend to dry out the skin.  Think about those things that you would imagine would soften and feed your skin.
Consider oils rich in vitamins, such as Olive Oil, Organic Thistle Oil, Almond Oil . These will be more soothing to your skin than skin drying mineral oils from the petroleum industry?  For example Mineral oil (Liquid Paraffin, Petrolatum….the clue is in the word its self… PETROL…. comes from crude oil)

Handcreams with such ingredients may be much cheaper to buy but surely your hands deserve the best care they can get…there are all natural products.

natural handcreamWould vegetable Gylcerin be nicer to place on your skin than animal Glycerin (usually from pork or beef carcasses)?
Would real Vitamin E be better on your skin than synthetic Vitamin E?
Do you not think that all natural Essential Oils might be kinder on your skin than petroleum based mass produced artificial perfumes or Parfum.

Essential Oils will feed your skin on your skin rather than the potentially irritating your kin with petroleum based perfumes?  Remember that our skin is the largest organ in our body.

If you agree then please look for hand cream that has been hand made with care and attention and not cheaply massed produced. Look for blends Essential Oils that have been blended together synergistically and which use the benefits of flowers and herbs to help heal, soothe and calm dry, rough and maybe cracked skin.  You do deserve the best and it can be done with all natural products.
Also look for handcreams in glass jars and companies that have a positive recycling programme.  We really do not need to add millions of empty tubes of handcream to landfill every day.

The thickness of our skin varies greatly from the eyelids (0.5mm thick) to the hands and the soles of the feet (up to 5mm thick) yet a quality all natural hand cream does provide safe nurturing healing effects on all thickness of skin.

Anousta Products manufacture a luxurious range of organic handcream  made from all natural products, all of which are either manufactured or overseen by Linda Anousta at her purpose built manufacturing unit in Wimborne, Dorset, UK

Age Spot Handcreams

Before you buy an age spot handcream, learn how to evaluate the ingredients. This article will help you do that.

Truthfully, you should learn how to evaluate ingredients before you buy any skincare product. The manufacturers are not really concerned about your skin’s health. There are many researchers who believe that the ingredients in skincare products and other health and beauty aids are responsible for chronic and life threatening diseases. They believe that the toxins in these products increase the "body burden".

Body burden is a phrase coined by the Environmental Working Group. Scientists in the group believe that toxins build up in the tissues, organs and cells of the body and create a burden that the liver, kidney and other organs cannot handle. There is a mountain of research supporting this belief, but the mainstream medical community is not yet on board and manufacturers won’t change their ways until they are forced to.

handcreamMost age spot handcream contains an ingredient called hydroquinone, which inhibits melanin production. It is a known irritant and allergen. If redness or irritation occurs, you should discontinue use. The price of creams containing it is higher than others, which means that you cannot assume that a high-priced product is safer or of better quality than a lower priced one.

In several European countries, the inclusion of hydroquinone in skincare products has been banned. Not because it is an irritant or allergen. It is up to the consumer to protect themselves from those things. It has been banned because it is a probable carcinogen. In most countries, the government does try to protect the population from cancer-causing agents. Of course, in the US, companies are only required to add a warning label. "This product may cause cancer."

So, obviously you don’t want to buy an age spot handcream that contains hydroquinone. Another ingredient, undecylenoyl phenylalanine, is the hydroquinone-free ingredient that is included in some creams. One of them is marketed as the "Michael Jackson Cream". Any cream that inhibits melanin production will lighten the complexion. That may not be desirable, particularly if you only want to get rid of a single spot.

handcreamInhibiting melanin production also increases the skin’s sensitivity to sunlight. You will be more likely to burn. Melanin protects the deeper layers from damage. That could be why hydroquinone has been linked to skin cancer.

An ingredient to look for in age spot handcream is Shea butter. Of course, if you want to safely and effectively inhibit melanin production, you should look for Cyperus Rotundus extract. It has been shown to inhibit melanin production by more than 40%. Depending on the amount of time that you spend in the sun, it will lighten your overall complexion in as little as two weeks.

If you only want to light a brown spot, Shea butter will help. You should look for the highest grade of Shea Butter. Lower grades do not have the pharmaceutical activity that you need. It may be hard to find age spot handcream that contains Shea butter, but there are some wonderful nighttime facial creams that contain it. They cost a little more, but they work, so they are worth the price.

ANOUSTA PRODUCTS produce an exceptional Handcream made with Marigold and Chamomile Flowers, Cocoabutter, Vitamin E, Sandalwood, Benzoin and Myrhh and much more. Called the Magic cream by some people!

A Little Bit About Organic Skincare

default A Little Bit About Organic Skincare

Organic cosmetics – like natural – skincare products, are sourced naturally and should not contain any chemical additives or have chemicals used in their creation. Organic means the plants are grown without the help of pesticides and other chemicals, whereas natural can simply mean taken from nature; pesticides and the such may be involved. Organic Skincare is much less likely to cause reactions as most people’s allergies are triggered by chemicals. Of course most cosmetics have a long list of chemical and synthetic ingredients however there are generally natural alternatives to these which you can look out for if you wish to avoid all synthetics altogether and go totally organic.

ogarnic skincareEmollients are common and mostly necessary ingredients which bind together oil and water, allowing for better moisturisation. There are a great deal of synthetic emollients out on the market, PEG- 45 Almond glyceride, synthetic alcohols (products that end with butyl, cetearyl, cetyl, glyceryl, isopropyl, myristyl), petroleum, paraffin, dimethicone, and cyclomethicone. Organic emollients are available that work just as well; oils from plants such as jojoba, avocado, and rosehip, and butters jojoba, shea, and cocoa.

Volumising products – predominantly shampoos, add volume by binding the hair with agents to make it thicker and fuller. Because this process adds more elements to the hair it seems important for these to be natural ones such as almond protein, herbal gums, and soy protein.

organic skincare productsDetergents work like soap by separating out oils and removing dirt. Most are synthetic although there are some plant-based detergents.

Humecants lock moisture into the skin. Collagen, elastin, and keratin are well known examples – just check out any anti-aging ad – it is assumed that they are natural, but most are derived from animals; definitely a no go for vegans and vegetarians. A few of these synthetic materials can cause some allergies and dermatitis. Natural alternatives are lecithin, panthenol (pro-vitamin B5), and glycerin.

Hydrators supply water to the skin and hair. There are quite a few organic hydrators in use as liquids derived from plants e.g. Aloe Vera, vegetable glycerin, and orange pith juice, actually make the best agents for hydration.

Organic Saponins or glycosides such as Yucca and Soapwort are found naturally; when mixed with water they foam up so are used for products such as shampoos and shaving foams to make them lather. They can also act as an emulsifying agent or cleanser.

Surfactants dissolve oil and dirt so that they can be easily cleansed away and they mostly occur in facial cleansers and shampoos. Instead of synthetics look out for Castile soap, yucca extract, soapwort, quillaja bark extract.

natural skincareCitric acid and corn syrup are examples of organic sequestrants; these are unique ingredients, in that they bind to metal ions like iron, as well as non-metal ions like salt and can remove them from hard water. Hard water can leave skin dry, discolour hair and make soap residue stick to the skin, further drying it out. Once the extra ions are removed from hard water it can lather more easily and be rinsed off more efficiently.

Just as food eventually perishes, so do skin care products, dependent on temperature change, light, and other factors, the product will eventually dry up or simply not be effective any more. Although synthetic preservatives will probably make products last longer than natural alternatives, you can stick with natural ingredients such as tea tree essential oil, thyme essential oil, grapefruit seed extract, and D-alpha tocopherol acetate (vitamin E), and then popping the product into the fridge will increase its shelf life.

It is important to be aware of alternative organic ingredients so that if you wish you can always ensure your skin care products are totally free from synthetics, Scin Boutique sells ranges which contain the highest possible percentage of organic ingredients and displays the ingredients list for each product – it’s good to always know what’s going on your skin!
