Looking For an Alternative Acne Treatment – 6 of the Best Therapeutic Face Cleansers For Treating Acne

Author: Hannah Clapham

face cleansersIf you are looking for an alternative acne treatment to use instead of those over the counter remedies then how about taking advantage of the gentle healing powers of some of natures finest natural ingredients.

Treating your acne with natural ingredients is always going to be so much better for your skin as they are much less likely to irritate and aggravate than many of the harsh chemicals contained in many of the preparations used to treat acne.

Learning how to make acne reducing facial cleansers and masks at home using natural ingredients is simplicity in itself. All you need to know is what to mix together and how best to use them. Here are some of my favorite recipes for homemade cleansers and facial masks; many of which are ideal for oily or acne-prone skin.

All of these mixtures are extremely gentle and should not cause any irritation to your skin, however as with any product you use you must discontinue their use if you have any adverse reaction at all.

Also, when removing your cleanser, consider rinsing some of these over your kitchen sink rather than the bathroom sink, as some have ingredients that need to go down the garbage disposal! No sense having beautiful acne free skin if your bathroom sink is blocked up.

Simple egg yolk cleanser

face cleanser acne%201 Best Therapeutic Face Cleansers For Treating AcneEggs are full of protein, vitamin A, and fatty acids that are very good for the skin. Take one beaten egg and apply it to the face with a cotton ball, or add a bit of vitamin E oil to the beaten egg. Let it dry on the face and sit for about 15 minutes, then just rinse it all off with cool water.

This will keep your skin hydrated and is a great treatment to try once every week.

Honey and oatmeal cleanser

When it comes to home remedies, this mask is probably one of the oldest there’s ever been. All you need to do is simply mix honey and oatmeal in proportion to make a paste and apply to your skin for a good 15 minutes. The excess oils and dirt in your skin are absorbed by the oatmeal while the honey helps to condition and moisturize.

This also makes a great scrub for exfoliating; just apply it to your skin and rub in a very gently circular motion for several minutes, then rinse away.

Oily skin cleanser

Take a quarter of a tomato, peel away the skin and then put it through a strainer to get all the seeds out. Add two tablespoons of plain yogurt, a few slices of mashed cucumber, a quarter cup of oatmeal, two teaspoons of vitamin E oil, and a crushed mint leaf. Mix all these ingredients together, apply to your face and leave on for about ten minutes. Then use a warm damp cloth to remove…Wonderful!

Yogurt and honey cleanser

acne%201 Best Therapeutic Face Cleansers For Treating AcneThis is a cleanser has also stood the test of time. Here you need to mix equal parts of room temperature natural yogurt (Note: do not use fat free or low-fat ) with honey that has been warmed enough to become runny (put in the microwave for a minute) and apply to your face; leave the mixture on for 15 minutes and then rinse off with a warm cloth. Just make sure the honey is not too hot before you apply it! Adding a bit more honey than yogurt will increase the moisturizing benefits.

Milk of magnesia cleanser

Milk of magnesia is actually very natural and comes from magnesium, which is an element that naturally absorbs acids and other harmful ingredients in the stomach. However, we have discovered that it makes for a great facial mask and is brilliant for very oily skin. Simply apply a very fine film of it (make sure it’s plain and unflavored) to your face, let it set for 15 minutes, and then rinse off with cold water.

Face cleanser for oily skin – Lemon and strawberry

Oily skin really benefits from the natural astringent properties of Lemons and strawberries. One teaspoon of lemon juice or the juice of one lemon should be combined with the whites of two eggs, a few tablespoons of honey that has been warmed enough to be runny, and a cup of strawberries. Blend or mash the ingredients together and apply to your face, leave to set for ten minutes, and then rinse off with a warm cloth.

Acne reducing masks and cleansers – How to use them

If you have acne and an oily skin you will also usually suffer with a very sensitive skin and even though these masks and cleansers are made from pure natural ingredients they are still very potent and may cause redness, peeling, stinging, and so on.

Therefore, It’s always better to start with a very light application of any mask and leave it on only for a few minutes before gently rinsing away. Be aware of how your face and skin react; if you feel any discomfort, stop using it. But if you seem to be getting some results then you can try leaving it on for a few minutes longer. You might want to consider using a mask only once per week initially, and if you’re pleased with the results then increase the application to say twice per week and then to every other day.

One final thing to remember with your alternative acne treatment, just because a small amount of something works well this doesn’t necessarily mean that more will be better. Stick with mixing the ingredients exactly as directed rather than adding in extra of anything.

Facial Cleanser Cream You Can Trust

If you are getting ready to buy facial cleanser cream, you might be interested to know about some recent findings. You might think of facial cleansers as safe, soapy goodness. The idea that the ingredients they contain could be detrimental to your long-term health is surprising to many of us. That’s why Skin Deep, the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and other public safety advocates are trying to keep us informed.

Anousta Products manufacture a "wash off" cleanser with essential oils of Lemon and Ylang Ylang which is hand made and free from all toxic elements.

Dioxane is a chemical that is listed as a known human carcinogen in the state of California and as a “probable” human carcinogen on other lists. It’s detrimental to the environment, because it is not biodegradable and, obviously, it contributes to our cancer risks.

Any facial cleanser cream that contains ethylene oxide may be contaminated with Dioxane, as it can form during the manufacturing process. A recent examination of a number of different “natural” and “organic” facial cleansers found them all to contain high levels of Dioxane. California has sued these companies. They must correct the problem, pay a fine or add the phrase “this product may cause cancer” to their labels.

face cleanserThe scary part is that the findings did not cause a recall of the facial cleansers. They are still on the market. One company, so far, has come forth to say that they will correct the problem, now that they have been made “aware” of it. My question is this. Why weren’t they aware of it in the first place?

The better manufacturers test their raw ingredients for contaminants and then check the finished product, as well. If they find unhealthy levels of contaminants, the whole batch is discarded. So, before you buy a facial cleanser cream, check out the manufacturer and find out about their testing protocols.

Personally, I use all-natural daily facial cleansers that contain ingredients like manuka honey and tea tree oil. They are soothing. Yet they have natural anti-bacterial activity and they are completely biodegradable.

face cleanserOn a bi-weekly basis, I use a deep cleansing mask that helps to delay the signs of age and prevents dryness on my face and neck. The ingredients are natural clay extracts that gently pulls dirt out of my pores and absorbs excessive oils. I would suggest it to anyone, because I know that the manufacturer guarantees purity and uses only the highest quality ingredients.

The mask is unlike others that are on the market. Most of them dry to a hard shell that is difficult to remove. This facial cleanser cream combines the clay extracts with macadamia oil, which is simply luxurious, and Shea butter, so that the mask does not dry out. It also includes manuka honey, because of its antibacterial and antioxidant activity.

I would have never thought that facial cleansers could make my skin look younger, but this one really works. The key ingredient, according to the manufacturer, is Functional Keratin.

Shop carefully for your personal care products and if you want to delay and counter the affects of time, look for a facial cleanser cream mask that contains Functional Keratin.

Using Organic Skincare Solutions

The elements can devastate your skin. Not only can the weather cause dryness, but prolonged exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays can lead to cellular structural damage. That’s why it’s critical that we do everything possible to care for our skin. It may surprise you to know that the majority of skincare products on the market contain a myriad of harmful chemicals. They can assault our skin and our bodies over time. While they may not be as lethal as cigarettes, many skincare products include toxins and carcinogens such as mercury, toluene and lead acetate.

Organic skincare products lack most of these chemicals. Instead, they contain natural ingredients. Foundations, shampoos, mascaras, lip balms and other organic solutions allow you to care for your skin while avoiding the effects of the toxins and foreign compounds found in most personal care products. Below, you’ll learn how "organic" is defined, a few benefits of using organic skincare products and the types of products you can purchase.

What Does "Organic" Mean?

organic skin care products ukOrganic Skincare products come in 2 varieties. They can either claim to be organic or made with organic ingredients. Both are defined differently. For a skincare product to be labeled "organic," it must be created with 95% organic ingredients. To claim it’s "made with organic ingredients," a product has to use at least 70% organic ingredients. Because the remaining 5% and 30% (respectively) can contain synthetic chemicals, you should use truly "organic" skincare products to limit your exposure.

Benefits Of Using Organic Skincare Solutions

The main benefit of using skincare products with organic ingredients is that you’ll avoid the toxins and carcinogens that can batter your body. Many of the natural ingredients found in organic solutions contain nutrients that are absorbed into your skin. These help your skin look youthful while nourishing and moisturizing the cells under the surface. You’ll also be contributing to the environment. Many of the chemicals contained in skincare products can’t be absorbed into the environment (without causing damage, at least). Truly organic skincare solutions don’t use most of these synthetic chemicals.

Types Of Organic Skincare Products

Nearly every conventional skincare product has an organic alternative. Whether for makeup, hair care, or cosmetics, there are many personal care products that avoid the poisonous chemicals and replace them with botanical ingredients. Lipstick, toothpaste, concealers, foundations and blushes are available in most stores that offer truly organic skin care products. Hair conditioners, rinses, body creams and toothpaste are also available.

The first step to buying organic products is to identify your skin type (dry, oily, or normal). Most organic personal care products are created to cater to specific types of skin. For example, those solutions that are formulated for dry skin usually offer a hydration component. Other products for oily skin moisturize without clogging your pores.

Treating Your Skin Organically

organic skincare productsOne of the biggest problems with traditional skincare products is that you don’t notice the damage you’re doing to your body. First, it happens beneath the surface. You may feel fine, but the foreign chemicals in these products are rampaging through your body. Second, any obvious health impacts can take years to manifest. It’s human nature to neglect health issues that aren’t obvious.

Your skin deserves to be treated well. That goes beyond simply making it look attractive. Consider the damage that foreign toxins, carcinogens and various chemicals can do to your body. Then, invest in a supply of organic skincare products. Your skin will look great. Plus, you’ll know that the natural ingredients and nutrients are feeding your body rather than damaging it.

"When natural way is easily available why do anything unnaturally" – is the principle on which organic skin care is based. Taking care of your skin the organic way is the best way.
